The Chi Gong

The Chi:
Chi is the vital energy, the energy that drives the planets in their orbits. It is in the earth, in the air, in the stones and in the flow of the water. Chi is the vital force of all life, the vital force of the human body and mind.
Gong:
This means practice, training.
Since the very beginning, human beings knew how to defend themselves and practised training, as a well-trained body is indispensable for survival. “To move in order to keep warm and to search for shelter in order to avoid heat” are basic reactions of the archaic conscience. The birth of the Chi Gong is due to progress and to the refinement of this conscience.
The movements were invented in order to strengthen, to relax and to soften the joints, to make the Chi flow and to nourish the inner organs. This was the birth of DAOYIN (art of conduct) and the beginnings of the art of maintaining good health through Chi Gong. These practices date back to the most ancient times of the Shang dynasty (1766-1122 B.C.).
