The Tai Ji Quan

Tai Ji Quan: This old Chinese tradition, codified in the 13th century, is a rich and multi-faceted discipline.
A meditation in movement, an inner martial art, a relaxation and concentration technique, Tai Ji Quan contributes to the oneness of a person. This succession of movements starting from the pelvis, aims first and foremost at supporting the circulation of energy in the whole body (the starting point for acupuncture) which helps to maintain bodily health. The benefits can be perceived physiologically (a better sense of balance, conscious breathing, ...) as well as in the mind (concentration, self-confidence, calm). Tai Ji Quan is a very real pleasure, a great beauty, harmony finally achieved between the body and the mind.
Though very different, slow gestures similar to combat gestures but highly stylised, Tai Ji Quan, which is practiced daily by millions of Chinese people, has the power to affect the mind, the search for concentration and the mastery of the body and of its energy. Through ?inner alchemy?, Tai Ji Quan?s main channels are the meridians of the body. It rebalances the organism?s vital functions and helps to achieve calm and inner peace.
Tai Ji Quan sparks off a profound interaction between body and mind, between the physical and the psychic, because the sequence of movements expresses the Tao doctrine and the alternation between Yin and Yang, two opposed and complementary energies that have to be united in difference and harmony.
